Items to consider when Selecting a Temperature Chamber

Absolute Minimum Internal Dimensions of  Temperature Chamber  Required

Absolute Maximum Temperature for which the chamber will be used.

Absolute Minimum Temperature for which the chamber will be used.

Absolute Minimum Humidity  for which the chamber will be used.

Absolute Maximum  Humidity  for which the chamber will be used.

Specify Typical Temperature/Humidity Tests that will be performed.
Examples:
80%RH at 80C
60%RH at 50C
Even though most Temperature/Humidity chambers are specified as  having a range of 20% to 98% Relative Humidity, this range is limited by a "dew point" specification which you need to know about.
IMPORTANT - For further information on this, please click here.

Is the Temperature Chamber going to be used for Temperature Cycling (changing Temperature automatically from one temperature to another)?  If so, a programmable temperature controller will be required.  Should the chamber not be used for temperature cycling,, then a single setpoint controller could be adequate (and less expensive).

What Temperature Ramp Rate do you Require?  For more information regarding this, please click here.

If your answer to the above is Mechanical Refrigeration, do you prefer a Water Cooled, or Air Cooled System?
If you prefer a Water Cooled System, do you have a Water Tower available?
If  you choose an Air Cooled System, would a Remote Air Cooled Condenser be Acceptable?

What Temperature Uniformity Is Required?

What Temperature Accuracy is Required?

Does Product Under Test Dissipate any Heat?  This is important since the chamber needs to have enough cooling capacity to overcome the Heat Load.  LN2 or CO2 boost can also be used to overcome this Heat Load if necessary.

What Electrical Power do you have available?

What Water do you have available for Chamber Humidification (IMPORTANT)?  For more information about water requirements, please click here.

Will process involve any Flammable Gas or Vapors?

Does Process require a Controlled Atmosphere such as Inert Nitrogen for Dry packaging of electronic components and any other application needing a protective inert atmosphere?

Are any of the following options required?:

Window in Door

Programmable Temperature Controller

Circular Chart Recorder

RS-232 or IEEE-488 Data Interface

Special Event Outputs from Temperature Controller

Special Feed-Through Ports

Castors for Easy Movement of the Chamber

GN2 Purge to Prevent Condensation when Chamber is Cooled
